PJ Holden
So who are you then and what do you do?
PJ Holden (that's Paul Jason, fact fans) and I draw comics, mostly for
2000Ad but, on occasion, for Image.
What have you done that we might recognize
Judge Dredd.
What have you done that we might not know about?
Fearless - a four issue series for Image comics. And 'previously' - a
collection of small press work that's available to buy from my website
What are you working on now that we should look out for?
DeadSignal in 2000AD - a mindbending twisty sci-fi extravaganza.
What piece of work are you most proud of and why?
I'm pretty proud of the work I've done on DeadSignal, Al Ewing's asked
for some outrageous stuff and I think I've delivered.
if I could buy only one thing you have worked on what should it be?
'Previously' - my self published collection of small press work,
really eclectic and drawn in a broad range of styles.
What book would you have been proud to have worked on and why?
Walking Dead - creator owned, high quality and non-super heroes.
If you could work on any book / character in comics what would it
be and why?
Hulk! Hulk Smash! er.. that's it.
Who would you most like to collaborate with on an original story
with and why?
Alan Moore - doesn't every artist want to work with Alan Moore?
If you were allowed only five comics (does not have to be single
issues a run counts as one) on a desert island (like Lost) what
would they be?
The Filth, Batman Black and White Book 1, V for Vendetta and, finally,
any large collection of Will Eisner's work (to my shame I've read none
of them...)
Do you have a website / blog where we can find out more?
http://www.pauljholden.com
If you were a sandwich what would your filling be?
Chinese five spices, chicken and peanuts.
Chocolate or Chips?
Chocolate.
Judge Dredd or Batman?
Dredd.
What word do you think is underused
obsequious
Save the world or rule the galaxy?
Save the world (who could deal with the all paperwork of ruling the
galaxy?)
If you could be granted one superpower which would you chose?
Teleportation.
What is your ultimate “who’d win” in comics?
Captain America or Captain Britain. Capt Britain for the win.
If you could be involved in telling a story featuring any two
characters who would they be?
Capt America and the Hulk.
What is the best and worst thing about working in comics?
Best thing? You get to create comics - I'd be doing this unpaid if
necessary.
Worst thing? Constant deadlines.
Any words of wisdom before you go?
A Fish rots from its head (old Chinese proverb)
pj
Thank you and goodnight!
