The Questionnaire
So who are you then, and what do you do?
David Lloyd. I write and draw for a living. Mostly one without the other, but sometimes both together at the same time, simultaneously. It's easier to do both than just one, contradictory though that may seem.
What have you done that I might recognise?
Depends what you do in terms of downtime. If you go to the movies and have never bought a comic book, comic or graphic novel, but have been along to see a film called V For Vendetta ( and stayed for the credits at the end ) you would have an image buried in the depths of your memory of a credit that told you that the movie came from a graphic novel I illustrated. If you watch dvds and acquired one of V For Vendetta, you'd even be familiar with my mug. If you do read strips in various forms you might have known about V For Vendetta before the movie, and might even know some of my other work from the past 20 years or more, comprising of such gems of storytelling as Night Raven: House of Cards, The Horrorist, The Territory, Aliens: Glass Corridor, and Kickback.
What have you done that I don't know about?
That's a complete mystery.
Tell me something you have not told anyone else.
I have not told anyone else that you've asked me a question asking me to tell you something I have not told anyone else.
Chocolate or Chips?
Both. But only with 85% cocoa. And I like my chocolate with battered cod and mushy peas.
What word do you think is underused?
Isn't underused, the word underused? Is there another word that looks like it?
What book do you wish you had worked on?
The Guttenberg Bible. It seems like it would have been solid enough. I'd have had to draw standing up, though. I'm sure it wouldn't have been big enough to sit on.
What book do you think would have been better if you had worked on it?
Any book would have been damaged. It wouldn't have been better afterwards.
Are you underpaid or overrated?
Underpaid and underrated.
JLA or Avengers?
Definitely Avengers. One the best tv shows of the Sixties.
Thanos or Darkseid?
Never heard of them.
Judge Dredd or Hellboy?
I try not to judge anyone.
Are your choices influenced by your current employer?
Yes. I'm my current employer.
If you could be involved in telling a story featuring any two characters, who would they be?
Nick Fury and Doctor Doom versus Hydra.
If you were a sandwich, what would your filling be?
Roast beef and hoarse laugh.
Can you get me a job?
Judging by your questions, you clearly have the skill to run a major comic book company, but I cannot assist talented people into such positions of power and influence. It appears to me that they are already overstocked with people of extreme intelligence who seem incapable of putting a foot wrong in the world of commerce.
Save the world or rule the galaxy?
You'd have to rule the galaxy to save the world.
One thing that annoys you about comic fans? (Only one please!!)
There is nothing that annoys me about comic fans.
CGC - blessing or curse?
What is the CGC?
Who sent this to you and do you like them or merely tolerate them?
Whatever Comics, Canterbury. I tolerate no-one.
Who are you going to send this on to and do you think they will reply?
No-one and yes.
Any words of wisdom before you go?
Always make sure you get enough sleep. Nothing seems as bad the morning after.
Thank you and goodnight!
Goodnight to you, too.
