Barry Nugent

So who are you then and what do you do?

I'm a Skrull, and in my spare time, when I'm not trying to overthrow the government ,I'm the co-host of the Geek Syndicate podcast.

What have you done that we might recognize?

Nothing legal...OK As I said I co-host Geek Syndicate which is a UK based podcast covering all things Geek, including comics.

What have you done that we might not know about?

I have recently published a supernatural adventure story called Fallen Heroes (Spielberg adaptation on the way...OK but a guy can dream can't he?)

What are you working on now that we should look out for?

Apart from the podcast, which I'm always working on and everyone in the free world should look out for, not a lot. I am working on the follow up to Fallen Heroes (this is being hampered by Mario wii kart at the moment) and I'm also trying to find anyone willing to take on Fallen Heroes as a Comic book adaptation.

What piece of work are you most proud of and why?

I'm very proud of the work we do on the podcast, we have a diverse range of listeners and we get some great feedback. From a comic point of view we've tried very hard to highlight the work of independent creators. As someone who has self published I know the amount of time and commitment it takes to get up and put yourself out there. I will always applaud and shout from the rooftops about anyone does this.

if I could buy only one thing you have worked on what should it be?

 Fallen Heroes, no contest!

What book would you have been proud to have worked on and why?

er...Fallen Heroes..wow these questions are easy.

If you could work on any book / character in comics what would it be and why?

Well I don't work in comics in the same way as everyone else. I would one day maybe like to try instead of writing straight prose maybe try writing a comic. In which case I'd love to write an Indiana Jones comic.

Who would you most like to collaborate with on an original story with and why?

Either Warren Ellis or Micheal Bendis. It was their awesome work on Planetary and Powers which reignited my love of comics which paved the way for the creation of Geek Syndicate.

If you were allowed only five comics (does not have to be single issues a run counts as one) on a desert island (like Lost) what would they be?

Planetary, Powers, New Frontier, The Ultimates 2 and any Hellboy. By the way if anyone know what the hell that black smoke thing is in Lost please email me geeksyndicate@hotmail.co.uk

Do you have a website / blog where we can find out more?

  (podcast)

  (Book)

If you were a sandwich what would your filling be?

 Chicken..always Chicken..then I could eat myself..no wait, that's sounds wrong.

Chocolate or Chips?

Hmm tough choice but I'd have to go with Chocolate

Judge Dredd or Batman?

I'd have to go with Batman as Dredd scares the crap out of me.

What word do you think is underused

Scooby or my new phrase 'Are you having a Scooby?'

If you could be granted one superpower which would you chose?

Flight, although I'd have to try really hard not to try and catch any falling helicopters.

Save the world or rule the galaxy?

Well as I would be a benevolent dictator (no public disintegration unless absolutely necessary) then surely i'd be doing both?

KNEEL BEFORE THE MIGHT OF EMPEROR NUGE cues for evil laughter and a grand sweep of evil cape. Hmm can capes be evil?

What is your ultimate “who’d win” in comics?

Hulk vs Superman

If you could be involved in telling a story featuring any two characters who would they be?

 I'd love to tell a Superman/ Batman story because...well because who wouldn't?

What is the best and worst thing about working in comics?

Nothing! I'm having a blast doing the podcast!

Will you forward this to someone you know who works in comics. And who if so who is it likely to be?

Not sure, you'll just have to wait and say..exciting isn't it?

Any words of wisdom before you go?

If you see a man who looks like a Werewolf you run, you run your ass off. Trust me I speak from experience. (episode 3...of the podcast not the 'not too bad but waaay too much cgi one' of the Prequel trilogy)

Thank you and good night.
